Help Save Smarter Home Life

I'm Joe Dugandzic, and I've been creating Smarter Home Life video and web content since early 2014. Everyday, I get to help people around the world understand all of this new connected-home technology and gadgets via reviews, how-to content and Q&As. But I also talk about how all of this new tech affects us as humans and where it's going to take us in the future. Smarter Home Life has become a huge part of my life, and incredibly intertwined with where I live--as my tiny smart home is the backdrop for the visual content I create.
Trouble is, I have to move. My home (and Smarter Home Life's location) is being sold later this summer by its owners. But it's too early "to leave the nest." My audience has been growing steadily over several years, and 2017 is an important year for that growth to continue. With all that I've accomplished, I would feel terrible if I had to push Smarter Home Life backwards instead of forwards. And, after to building to where SHL is today, creating amateur videos out of a spare bedroom is probably not the best idea. I have a marvelous growth plan for Smarter Home Life in the future, with additional personalities, new types of shows and more...but it all starts with continuing to have a great location to showcase all this new-fangled technology.
Smarter Home Life isn't a side thing or a small project, at least not anymore. While I do what I need to do to "keep the lights on", I spend the majority of my time on this venture, because I truly believe in it and its future. With all of the awesome feedback I get from fans, they seem to believe in it, too! So I'm reaching out to the fans to help move Smarter Home Life to a new location and take it to the next level, all in one big campaign.
Funding raised by this campaign will go to moving expenses, potential temporary storage and housing, and costs associated with moving into a new place and outfitting it with appropriate smart home technologies. Also, the funds will serve to give Smarter Home Life a strong foundation as it begins its new life in its new location. This will include some studio and computing equipment upgrades as needed to continue evolving the show's look and feel. (Smarter Home Life has run, and will continue to run on a very lean budget.)
An exact location and exact date haven't been determined yet, but the target is to move to the Pacific Northwest region, nearly the opposite climate from hot, oven-baked Phoenix. The target date is to move into the new location by the end of September at the very latest. As it would be quite difficult to produce professional video content at my current home with potential homebuyers walking through, the plan is to move out before the home is placed on the market near the beginning of September. So, time is certainly of the essence!
I have been in the technology world for nearly my entire adult life, but creating Smarter Home Life and interacting with its audience has been the most fulfilling "job" I've ever had. I get to personally help people understand this technology and gadgets better, from around the corner to around the planet. I wake-up every day to emails and comments from fans in the from places like the United Kingdom, Mexico, Taiwan, South Africa, and around the U.S. and it makes me smile that I reach so many people. I can't imagine moving Smarter Home Life to the "back burner" or just forgetting about it entirely and moving on to do something else with my life just to "get by"...I'm here to help change the world.
So, quite humbly, I'm asking for your support. I will be eternally and incredibly grateful for whatever you feel you can contribute so that I can keep Smarter Home Life moving in the right direction.

I'll be heavily documenting the process of moving, and undoing one smart home and creating yet another. Regular updates will be public, and special updates will be made for supporters! And...depending on what you contribute, you can be part of the process to decide where the new location will be and what kinds of smart home tech are installed there! While this idea kinda scares me a bit, I think it will be incredibly fun to have the supporters be involved in this entire process. And you'll be able to feel like you're not just a contributor but helping to make important decisions!
