SMS Civics Celebration
Hi there and thank you so much for considering a donation!
I am a civics teacher at Stambaugh Middle School in Auburndale, FL. We are a Title 1 middle school with 100% free breakfast and lunch (due to our poverty level) in Polk County, Florida.
Last year I taught 90 students in my civics classes. Civics, in Florida, requires students to take an End of Course exam, or EOC. This test is extremely difficult and one that we prepared for all year with tutoring sessions, online programs, tons of in class work, and a lot of effort. We had 78% of our students that took the test, pass!
I made a promise to my students that I would try my best to take them on a celebration field trip if they were still students at Stambaugh this year, met certain discipline requirements THIS year, and passed the EOC.
Now: I am making good on that promise! I have been working with the Youth Education Series staff at Disney to take my students to Magic Kingdom for their "Discovering the American Spirit" Program, and we are going on November 16th, and we are able to get FREE tickets as a part of their training program, woo hoo!!! Students are still in charge of paying for the bus, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, though, which is where we need your help.
Everything raised on GoFundMe will go towards: providing financial assistance to students who cannot pay their way and lowering the cost, overall, for families. We appreciate any and all donations as they allow us to provide students with rewards they otherwise would not be able to get, and celebrate their success. Thank you!
