Feeding our communities is a great responsibility. Our mission is to provide healthy, organic options – not only for sustainable foods but entrepreneurship, community engagement, and cultural enrichment.
Nationwide our neighborhoods are filled with violence, blight, and neglect. To make matters worse we’re living in food deserts which, in tough economic times, don’t seem to be getting any better.
Asking others to help us fix what's broken has not been effective. At He.Brews Tea Co. & Gardens, we believe that we are the change we seek. We have faith in our ability to rise and thrive – together.
It's SOLUTION TIME!
We're Amiri & Yahya, the husband and wife team behind He.Brews Tea Co. & Gardens (and The Nspiyahd Life ). We grow three community garden spaces in so-called Food Deserts in the great (but impoverished) city of New Orleans. We are raising funds to continue our work rebuilding black communities; and the families and children affected by broken homes, violence and mass incarceration in our communities.
Humans have only a few basic needs. Food, security and a sense of belonging are keys to our optimal growth. This money helps support our mission to feed families clean, organic food while providing them a space to come and learn to grow their own food, reconnect with nature and build something sustainable for themselves and their future.
We believe that rebuilding the family structure is key to curing the ails in our communities and our work focuses on bringing families together and restoring what has been damaged, while serving as a safe guard to prevent repeating destructive cycles.
Along with reconnecting with nature, community members will also have the opportunity to use art as therapy on reclaimed wood canvases placed throughout the gardens in an effort to beautify spaces still ravaged and neglected since Hurrican Katrina.
Funds raised are being used to support positive programming, sponsor fresh produce boxes, and purchase much-needed garden tools, equipment, and soil amendments.
We've been committed to this work for 3 years and are ready to do it even better! We're rolling out new programs through the remainder of 2017. We will provide hands-on classes that cater directly to the needs of the folks who need it the most.
Along with healing, art, and gardening we're planning:
• Summer and after school programming
• Health is Wealth cooking demonstrations
• Hands-on herbal healing classes
• Family fun events and positive community gatherings
• Date nights in the garden to build black marriages
...and SO much more!

Here's what your donations can do:
• $10 - Purchase small bag of fertilizer
- paint and supplies
- Purchase Seed
• $25 - Sponsor 1 - 20 lb produce box for a family in need
- Purchase 1 cu. yd organic compost
- Art Supplies for 3 children
• $50 - Sponsor 2 - 20lb produce boxes
- Purchase wood to build 1 small grow box
• $100 - Sponsor 2 families for 1 month with fresh produce
- Build 1 garden bed
- Purchase fertilizer
- Purchase and deliver more canvases to gardens
- Build tables and seating
• $500 - Sponsor a family for a whole season of fresh produce delivered twice monthly
- Purchase a whole pallet of organic soil
- Purchase used equipment such as: table saw, generator, air compressor, speakers
- Fund community Health is Wealth cooking classes
• $1000 - Sponsor 2 families for 2 seasons of fresh, organic produce delivered twice monthly

- Secure needed equipment such as: Used riding lawnmower, tractor rental
