Start the Southern Indiana Community Arts Center

Tax deductible
Kentuckiana Association of Musicians and Singers (KAMS) is already making a huge impact in the community by offering music lessons, running an orchestra and choir, donating instruments, and so much more. All programs are supported by voluntary donations.

But, the organization needs a home. Plans are to purchase a property that would offer the following services at no charge:

• Many more instrumental lessons (piano, guitar, drums, bass, violin, etc.);

• Other music-related lessons (songwriting, music theory, recording studio techniques, etc.);

• Rehearsal facilities for individuals and bands;

• A concert hall, in which weekly free concerts for the community would be mounted;

• A recording studio;

• A community ‘hang-out’ area where locals would be welcome to come and make music informally (‘jam’) or just enjoy the space while listening to others perform, and

• A small office for the Organization, which may be used by our booking agent to help locals wanting to make money from their music.

KAMS needs to raise the money to cover the 15-20% down payment to purchase a property. Suitable properties in the area are selling for $150-200k. Therefore, funds needed would be somewhere between $22,000 and $40,000.

The ongoing mortgage payments, utilities and maintenance will be covered by renting out one or two apartments on the premises - the President of KAMS has plans to live on-site.

Such a center could well become a bustling hub of artistic development for everyone in the community, regardless of age, financial or social standing.
