Fleece-starter! Funds For A Flock

Hi, I'm Sophie! Im looking to raise some funds to help establish my first flock of sheep! A bit about me: I'm 29 years old and living in the grounds of my parents smallholding, for some time now I have been battling with mental health issues and I've been off work since July 2018. Shortly after being signed off I got into spinning after a friend loaned me her spinning wheel. It has been a growing hobby for me and I love learning about different fibres and techniques, and soon fell in love with the beautiful soft Shetland fleece. After a few sessions with a therapist it was suggested that I went into animal husbandry, I mentioned that I wanted to get sheep and soon after fleece-starter went live! A lot of work went into securing a small paddock and on the 21st July 2019 my first 5 sheep arrived! Since my sheep have arrived I have felt a sense of purpose, and I'm always excited to get up in the mornings to see them. They have kept me grounded with daily tasks, such as poop scooping (to keep flies down as the paddock is next to the house) and daily hand feeding to keep them tame, this also gives me plenty of time to give them a visual health check. I am very thankful to all who have donated so far and helped me get to where I am today but there are still a fair few things needed to help my flock. My first priority is to get more land fenced as I would like to rotate their grazing and allow me to expand the flock. I'm also in need of handling equipment such as hurdles and pens to keep stress down when catching and treating sheep. The other thing I am also in need of is a trailer, this would make transporting my livestock much easier as I live in quite a rural area. Any donation, no matter how small will help me reach my goals and ensure positive healing along the way.
