S.A.M.E. Sensory Center

Donation protected

My name is Christina and I am the owner and creator of S.A.M.E. I was inspired to start S.A.M.E. after witnessing the benefits that dance and creative movement provided to my autistic daughter, Gia. What started as Gia and I dancing in our home, in my effort to bond and connect with my little girl who was very much disconnected, deregulated, and in her own little world, evolved to creative and expressive movement classes for children and has now cocooned to an Inclusive Sensory Center. S.A.M.E. now has the amazing opportunity to offer a wide variety of classes and programming for ALL children, with special sensitivity given to those with Developmental Delays, Sensory Processing Disorder and Autism. Curriculum varies from dance, art, and expression to socialization and life skills. In addition to child classes, S.A.M.E. is extending services to adults, in particular parents and caregivers by providing opportunities to practice self-care through expression and community!

Speaking from the heart, we all need a soft place to fall. This is that soft place to fall,  Auburn's very own Inclusive Sensory Center. I speak a lot to the challenges (and joys) of special needs parenting, but Life in general is challenging. We ALL need a safe place where we can go to de-stress, play, and feel completely comfortable to be our true authentic selves. Basically, a glorified Grandma's house. Looks, smells, and feels good to the soul, and when you leave, you leave with the knowing that you have someone in your corner.

S.A.M.E.'s Inclusive Sensory Center has been a recent acquisition and is in need of renovations, materials, and equipment necessary to build the Sensory Center that our community deserves. We are located in the Fingerlakes Mall which truly is the perfect location in support of our mission. Accessible to all, located indoors which adds an element of ease and safety, and food options are available for individuals an families on the go.

So, I'm inviting you to make a contribution to S.A.M.E.'s campaign, which is ultimately making a contribution to our community by bringing this unique vision to life.

“We dance for laughter, we dance for tears, we dance for madness, we dance for fears, we dance for hopes, we dance for screams, we are the dancers, we create the dreams.”  -Albert Einstein (an autistic)
