It has been announced that before winter hits the playground equipment at the St. John Park will be pulled out and scrapped due to safey and insurance requirements. At this time no funds are available and the City of St. John Council has no plans to replace the equipment. However with donated finicial contributions the community members of St. John hope to have new equipment by next spring.
The park is home to t-ball games, our Easter Egg hunt, which draws children from all over the region, the Fireman’s Picnic, countless birthday, family gatherings and get-togethers as well as memories and hours of fun year round for our children and the children that have grown up here. When a new family visits our town, debating moving into our community, what will they think when they drive by our park? An empty park is a sign that children and families are not our priority and I know that isn’t true. Please note, we love and happily accept any finicial contributions however, gofundme takes 8% of each donation, so if you can donate in person or by mail to either Lamont Bank of St. John or to IEMC c/o Valerie or Jessiann, that is the preferred method.
