Haiti Mission Trip

Donation protected

I was fortunated enough to go to Haitit this past August.  I cannot unsee what I saw, cannot ignore what is still there and have since accepted the call to return in March, this time with my daughter, Carley. I can't wait to go back and see the slow progress, be with people of great faith, hope and graditude.

To be able to bring the simple gift of water to those without means to fresh, clean water,  Something we don't think twice about others only receive a little once, maybe twice a week.

To serve the elders of the community.  The gift of connection, a little home health, bathing, bringing some food and water.  Time to visit and treat others with dignity.

To bring joy to the children.  Once again that interaction, making a connection.  Giving the gift of a hug and attention. Some of the kids are child slaves who get no love.

To see first hand where Feed My  Starving Children food ends up.  Watching the kids of Cite Soleil play soccer and receive their ONE meal a day!

To be able to serve along others and grow. To work with an amazing team of members from our own community.

To me, Haiti is that worn out old penny that has been tossed to the side. I cherish every penny I find, and a piece of my heart is still in Haiti...it grew way too much while there and exceeded the weight limits for the plane ride home.

The organization I am going with couldn't put together a better mission:
About Healing Haiti:

The prophet Micah was imploring the Israelites to understand that believers have to be willing to live lives that are radically different from the rest of the world. Contrary to the world, God is a defender of the poor and the oppressed. Healing Haiti recognizes this is the same truth we need to live by today. We acknowledge we cannot live a radical life when we are more loyal to the norms and culture of this world, rather than the mandate of God.

Act Justly: Concern for the vulnerable is very much a part of God's character (Psalm 146:7-9). Healing Haiti is called to be a people of action for the Kingdom of God. We diligently and joyfully seek to follow God's command to "speak for those who cannot speak for themselves (Prov 31:8).

Love Mercy: Mercy is extended to us daily and is an example for us to follow. Healing Haiti believes those that show mercy to the poor, to the sick and to the needy are in effect ministering to Him personally (Matt 25:35-40). We are called not to love with words or tongue, but with action and in truth (1 John 3:17-18).

Walk Humbly: Healing Haiti strives to depend on Him rather than our own abilities (Micah 2:3). Instead of taking pride in what we bring to God, we humble recognize that no amount of personal sacrifice can replace a heart committed to justice and love.

It is at this time, I humbly ask for your support, I will start by asking for your prayers and positive thoughts for not only myself and Carley, but for those of the wonderful team that has been weaved together and for the people of Haiti.  There is also an opportunity to be a part of my personal financial support team. The trip cost is estimated at $1,800 (each), and I will pay this through contributing myself and through donations & possible fundraisers.

We thank you in advance,

Stacey and Carley Larson
