Stanley SDA School, nestled in the heart of the breath-taking Shenandoah Valley is a rural Adventist Christian School with just 34 students--and yet, we believe you'd be hard-pressed to find students getting a better education.
Our secret? Differentiation. We whole-heartedly believe that every child can be successful, and so we tailor-make our education success plans for each student.
We recognize that the path to this success begins when we determine how each of our students best learns, and present knowledge in a way they can grasp easily. We work hard to spark their interest and curiosity and we try to present interesting challenges that help to make school a place our students are eager to attend every day.
We have limited resources, but a great deal of good, old-fashioned Valley grit and a healthy dose of creativity. We grow gardens in boxes behind the school. We boil red cabbage to make pH indicator. We build tornado machines out of donated scrap wood. We encourage students to use PVC and old bicycle pumps to design rocket launchers. (The one you're looking at here was the brain-child of a 6-year-old. Yes, seriously.) We empower girls to create and explore right along side the boys.
We look at each student and we see a force destined to change the world. What we hope is that you will catch the vision, too.
Just $6 would provide a set of petrie dishes for one student's yeast experiment.
$8 would give her a set of test tubes
$20 would open up math for him with a set of fraction strips.
$27 would provide one laboratory manual.
$100 would buy one student an updated science textbook.
Your gift of $175 would give the gift of electricity to the entire class in the form of a Van de Graaf generator.
Just 4 gifts of $500 could provide the class with a smart projector or an interactive whiteboard.
We also need a lighted microscope, beakers, and chemistry supplies. We need magnets, springs, magnifying glasses, and more math manipulatives.
