Bring STEM to kids workshop fund

Hello. I’m Jewel Amethyst Daniel, a scientist, author and educator. I teamed up with my eleven year old daughter Lynelle Martin to write and publish a children’s educational science adventure novel entitled “Zapped! Danger in the Cell”.
During Maryland Public Schools’ spring break, Port Discovery Children’s Museum hosts STEM in Spring, a week long period of special programs dedicated to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). The Museum partners with organizations that specialize in STEM learning. We, the authors of the book are honored that Port Discovery has invited us to present a workshop based on our book, “Zapped! Danger in the Cell”.
Because the book is about children who get shrunk and enter into a real life animal cell, we have designed a really fun workshop that will recreate the book characters’ journey into the cell. We will convert a room into an animal cell so that the children that participate in the workshop can enter into and interact with the parts of the cell. For that we need materials.
Usually this STEM in Spring program features large organizations, labs, and science institutes who have access to materials and funds. We are therefore really honored to have been chosen to do this workshop. Unfortunately we are not in a position to purchase the materials that we need. We are expected to fund this project on our own so we are seeking your help to raise funds to undertake this adventurous project that will give kids from all walks of life exposure to Science and technology.
