Steps For The Shire

We are group of individuals from Pembrokeshire who have all seen the impact mental health and addiction has had on those close to us. We have decided to walk Ben Nevis on the weekend of the 13th of July 2018 in order to raise awareness for addiction and mental health and the lack of support services in our county, as well as recognising and fundraising the good work carried out by local charities and organisations. We wanted to turn what has been a negative experience for many of us into something positive and to give something back to our local community. #frompembrokeshireforpembrokeshire
Unfortunately there are no local addiction services for which we could raise money for knowing it would benefit Pembrokeshire directly. However, during our search we discovered VC Gallery and Pembrokeshire Mind, which are both local charities that offer a variety of services and a network of support to vulnerable people in our area. The VC gallery offers support through art therapy and provides a community social hub for vulnerable people whilst acting as a signposting and referring serivce.  
Pembrokeshire Mind offers information and advice to those suffering from mental health and lobbies government and local authorities on their behalf, it also raises awareness and understanding of issues relating to mental health.  We are looking forward to raising money and awareness for both charities in order to help cover some expenses and fund community projects.
