Stretch Heal Grow
After the diagnosis is given, after the treatments have “ended” for some and are ongoing for others, women with breast cancer are left to take on their “new normal”.
Evidence shows that facing cancer as a young woman presents many obstacles unique to this age group, including the financial burden of cancer, disconnection from peers, loss of independence and interrupted education and career. These obstacles can leave women with lasting trauma, so the need for ongoing support and community is vital in order for them thrive and move forward with their lives.
That’s why we think it’s important for women to attend Stretch Heal Grow.
This yoga and wellness retreat provides women with breast cancer the opportunity to connect with others going through cancer and heal alongside those who share in their experience. Not only do women leave the retreat feeling part of a bigger community, they learn better coping strategies to get through the ups and downs that cancer brings and live in the present with uncertainty for what the future holds.
Nikki is one of the many women whose life has been forever changed by Stretch Heal Grow. After two cancer diagnosis, she joined us at Stretch Heal Grow in 2018, leaving with lifelong connections and a passion to pay it forward to other young women.
Touched by the transformative power of the retreat, Nikki is joining us as the yoga instructor in 2019. Hear what she has to say about her experience and why she is passionate about making the retreat accessible to more women:
This is where you come in.
Every year we have more applications than spots we can fill. This year alone, we’ve received over 100 applications for 50 spots. We need your help to make this retreat accessible to the women who need it.
You can make this retreat a reality for more women in our community.
You can give women diagnosed with breast cancer a chance to rebuild their lives by giving them the opportunity to make transformative connections, build a support system and develop the tools to become resilient and strong.
