Baby Carson's Fight

Carson James Yoder was born on May 25th, 2018 into a loving family of two of the most amazing parents and big brother Liam. Shortly after Carson was born he started to show signs of distress and was flown to CHOP. Carson has shown that he is a little fighter and is making small improvements with each new day. However, this sweet little guy still has his doctors questioning exactly what is causing the concerning issues with his health. During this time, his mom and dad are both at his side, all while maintaining stability for big brother Liam. Those of you that know my brother Steven and his wife Teddi, you know that they are always the first to offer help, without ever expecting anything in return. I have started this fundraiser for my brother and his family to help with the ongoing back and forth costs and mounting medical expenses, and to generally support them during this time so that they don't have to worry about expenses and lost time from work. Instead, they can keep their focus on their family and the things that are most important right now. We thank all of you for your support, there have been so many of you who have reached out offering help and prayers, and we appreciate it more than you know! There are no words to describe our gratitude for the amount of support that has been given from so many of you. Please continue to keep Carson and his family in your thoughts and prayers. Update with a Diagnosis: 
Carson remains at the NICU at CHOP.  We received a devastating diagnosis called Pearson Syndrome.
Pearson Syndrome is a rare mitochondrial disorder caused by missing DNA. There have only been roughly 100 diagnosed cases since this mutation was identified in 1979. It impacts multiple organs and is a progressive, fatal disease. There is no cure. They treat symptoms as they arise until eventually one of the organs fail. 

It is heartbreaking to realize this, but we will take each day as it comes and surround this sweet little baby with all of our love. He is our little warrior!
