Help Nora End Birth Discrimination

Nora McNeill has been providing midwifery services for 39 years, since 1975. During that time, she has assisted with over 1,500 births.
She did not attend a formal midwifery school, but learned from the school of faithful women. She is grateful for the many confident women who allowed her to learn from them as they trusted their bodies to birth their babies. In 1975 there were no other midwives in her area that she could apprentice with and so she had to depend on mothers and their wisdom to help her learn the art of midwifery. Now, Nora is both a Registered Nurse, and a Licensed Midwife in the state of California.
Recently, Nora received a letter informing her that she was being investigated for appropriate transports she made to the hospital, from home. A demand was made for client records without a subpoena. Nora is going to fight back but, she needs our help! The initial cost to retain an attorney is $5,000. Unless an early settlement is reached, legal costs could be extensive. We will be updating as the case progresses.
Women seek midwifery care because they want to be empowered to make their own choices regarding their births, whether giving birth at home, or in the hospital. The midwifery model of care reflects this basic human need and philosophy. The continued unjustified harassment of midwives impedes the human rights of birthing women, and their families. This is not just the plight of a single midwife.
Please take a stand for the rights of childbearing women and the midwives who serve them, and help put a stop to discriminatory actions in childbirth.
