Help Me Pay For My Mom's Autopsy

Early in the morning on November 15th my mother died at Select Specialty Hospital in Grosse Pointe. Her death was completely unexpected and there was no obvious cause. I was hoping the truth would come out in the autopsy, but I was told that no autopsy was recommended or offered by the hospital or the Wayne County Coroner. Without their recommendations there would be no insurance to pay for it; I would need to pay out of pocket.

She had been transferred to Select Specialty barely a day before her death. Before that she had been recovering from colon surgery at Providence Hospital in Southfield. The surgery went well and she just needed to regain skills related to swallowing and getting her strength back.

She had no history of heart disease and there was no evidence of any condition that would threaten her life in the near future. I just wanted to know how she died. Without an autopsy I couldn't rule out malpractice or foul play.

I have been able to contract the services of highly regarded pathologist Daniel Spitz, but this service has a price, and I hope some of the people who read this can help me pay for this so that I can find closure.
