Replacing Brians much loved Cameras

HAS BEEN BURGLED
Witham Horticultural Society Member and well known local photographer, a lot of his photographs are on the Witham calendar sold at Witham Town Hall, has been burgled. Brian Wilmer of Barleyfields, near Tesco Witham, selects and engages the speakers for Witham Horticultural Society. Brian is a keen gardener and is seen here with one of the cups that he has won. He also helps out at five other clubs.
He said that whilst he slept on Friday night (24th April) , prior to the Witham Horticultural Society trip on Saturday(25th April) to the beautiful Sissinghurst Castle and gardens, his home was broken into.
He explained that the back door to his home was opened, and a bag containing two cameras, each costing in the region of £400, bought for him by his son were stolen.
Brian said “There was no sign of forced entry, the key in my side of the lock has been pushed through, I don’t know how they got in. Drawers have been rifled, but nothing else seems to have been taken. I’m not insured, the premium was £80 a year and I couldn’t afford it. It’s a shame I won’t be able to take any photographs at Sissinghust. The police are due to come on Sunday to investigate.”
This appeal has been started by Kevin Robson to raise the money to replace Brian’s cameras.
He has pledged £10 to set the ball rolling.
“Brian is a popular local character. He is always up early 7a.m. ish, bright and cheery in Witham Park. He is often seen collecting and disposing of litter not seen by the regular park patrol. Brian is knowledgeable about the weather and most times gives very accurate specific weather forecasts which are often spot on. He’s always the first to see the rare birds, and delights in talking about his sightings of the kingfishers and woodpeckers and other rare birds at Witham Park. He always has a kind word for everyone and it’s a shame that this has happened to him”
