Root for Rubie

Donation protected
Rubie is a 4 year old little girl who was born with CMD (congenital muscular dystrophy) unlike other children her age she can't walk or talk and gets by day to day using small triggers who only those who are close to her know.
Over the past year her development has come on leaps and bounds but in order for this to continue further help is needed.
Root for Rubie is a campaign which has been set up to try and make her life easier by creating a sensory garden.

A sensory garden will help Rubie with her development and one day help her to walk and talk by interacting with the world around her, an active mind is a growing mind. Root for Rubie was started by her step mum and her dad to allow Rubie to have some space where there are no doctors, nurses or physiotherapists, just Rubie and her sister Lylah playing and learning in the most fun way possible.

A rough sketch of the plan can be found on the website (coming soon) where every step will be updated as the garden progresses. The garden to the front will be paved with surrounding fruit trees for the birds, butterflies and bees. A small bench will sit in the corner where they can be watched while they play. To the rear is where we want the magic to happen! A ramp out the door will allow for Rubie's wheelchair to be pushed out with ease, the garden will be levelled completely and a path will run around the garden and in between astro turf will allow for clean play, around the borders will be small plants for the wildlife and against the fence will be raised beds for gravel play, touch and sound are vital for sensory play. We will also have a trough for water play and several hanging wind chimes and standing rain chimes. Lights in the tree and around the house will allow Rubie to spend some time relaxing in the garden before she calls it a night. Mirrors surrounding the garden will also allow her to see more than what there actually is.

To make the garden accessible all year round we plan on having a small pagoda built outside the back window which will stand on decking. A small shed will be added at the side to house the soft play toys as well and to ensure the garden is safe.
However, in order to make this dream a reality we are asking for public help! Rubie is just one of the millions of children born with CMD however we are not entitled to funding because this is not her permanent address. The time she spends with her sister is vital and we want to make it as special as possible. By creating the gardens we will be ensuring that her condition doesn't get any worse which can easily happen if the right care isn't given. Rubie's mind needs to be kept constantly active in order for her to achieve a happy life, however because this is not her permanent address it will cost in excess of £3,000 which is money we simply don't have and so we are appealing to the public to help with our dream to make Rubie's life so much better. Her weekends are free from doctors but they can never be free from learning!

To sum up, by donating a small amount now you will be helping a little girl progress to lead a normal, happy life. This will also pave the way for future families whose sons and daughters need the same help. Thank you for reading and please remember everything helps!
