Teacher to Compete for Team USA

If I had a nickel for every time I've uttered these words to my students, I wouldn't need gofundme. As a public school teacher, encouraging students is what I do. I've spent years mastering skills and strategies and honing my instincts and talents to motivate students to learn and thrive. My secret? I teach by doing. I run. I jump. I calculate. I write. I sing. I DO. So here I am at 45, on my way to represent the United States and compete in the World Masters Track and and Field Championships in Lyon, France going for the gold in the heptathlon, jumps, and hurdles August 4th through August 16th.
As a mom of two children, things are a little different than they were when I competed as a sprinter and 20 plus-foot long jumper as un undergrad (Go Bears!), but not much. I still have MAD HOPS and CRAZY SPEED! I am the USA Masters Track and Field Pacific Association Champion in the long jump, triple jump, high jump, shot put, and javelin, and am All-American in all three jumps and 60 meter dash. I'm also WORLD and NATIONALLY RANKED. As a school teacher, I have the time and energy to represent the United States of America at the Masters World Championships in France and bring home the gold. But finances? I did say that I'm a public school teacher didn't I?
A lot of people think that because I'm on Team USA, everything is paid for. Not so! Have you seen me on television commercials? No (Okay. Maybe one, but that was for public education). Do I have a contract with Nike or Tampax? No (at least not yet :)). Unless amateur athletes are sponsored, we pay out of pocket for EVERYTHING (transportation, room and board, gear, etc.). So, your financial help would be greatly appreciated! AND...wait for it...
