Help Clark Jacobs: Brain Injury

Donation protected
Clark Jacobs  needs your generous support to help pay for his substantial medical bills. Please join Team Clark.

I wish you knew my nephew, Clark. He’s a goofy, sarcastic, funny and brilliant young man. He’s a man of few words, but when he opens his mouth, you really want to write down what he says (because it will leave you in stitches). I remember when Clark was about 3 years old; he built a bridge out of blocks, and explained to his parents why the structure of the bridge worked. That’s when his dad knew Clark would one day be an engineer. He played baseball as a child. He earned stellar grades in high school (without studying), and a sky-high SAT score (without preparing).

Clark is now 20, a second-year Mechanical Engineering student at Georgia Tech and a hard working co-op student. He is a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity. His whole, bright and wonderful life was in front of him.

I said ‘was’ because on January 10th, 2015 Clark suffered a tragic accident.

While Clark was sleeping, he fell out of his loft bed and fractured his skull. After several days in the hospital, his condition worsened, and he had emergency brain surgery to save his life. His family rallied around him to help him heal.

Clark’s recovery has been nothing short of remarkable – beating the medical odds again and again through a heartbreaking rolling coaster of emotions. His mom calls him “Superman,” after his namesake, Clark Kent. He remains in a minimally conscious state and has a long road ahead of him, and his family will be by his side every step of the way as he fights his way back. I have great hope that Clark will recover to his old self, and that he will be able to resume his life where he left off. But for now, he needs your help. Clark is in need of long term care while he recovers and his medical expenses mount.

Clark’s immediate family has not requested this fundraiser – I am Clark’s uncle and, along with my siblings, we hope you can join our team to ease their tremendous financial burden. Join Team Clark.

You deserve to know how your donation will be used. Your donation will go towards paying for the substantial uncovered long-term care costs associated with home nursing care for a minimally conscious patient. Clark’s parents will donate all excess donations to the nationally recognized Shepherd Center in Atlanta, where the amazing staff has been working with Clark on his road to recovery.

Thank you for your contribution of money, prayers and positive, healing thoughts. Your contribution will help allow my family to focus on Clark’s recovery. Follow Clark’s progress on his CaringBridge site . Please Join Team Clark. #teamclark
