Our son, Matteo Musso, age 11, was diagnosed with autism at 3 years. Since then, we have tried just about every therapeutic opportunity to help him achieve his full potential and overcome his challenges. Recently, we discovered that Teo can communicate his thoughts by means of a letter board and very precise therapy. Matteo has the ability to spell out the words he wants to say but cannot verbally communicate. He has spelled out with his own words that he has been "present" his entire life with no way to share his mind. We have been learning about his interests, thoughts, and feelings and have truly been getting to know our son for the first time in our lives together. For so long we assumed we knew what was going on, but now we have the inside scoop. The method of communication that we have learned is called Soma Rapid Prompting Method. Through this, we can homeschool Matteo with the help of a team as well as ask his personal opinions. We have quickly learned that Matteo has extreme intelligence in math and science, and we are seeking help of specialists and expert tutors in those subjects. We are raising money to pay the members of our team and specialists to compensate for their work with Matteo. By providing funding, you are giving Matteo an education and a voice, in a world where many individuals with autism are silenced. To give perspective, one specialist for one hour per day costs $750/week. We are grateful for donations of any shape and size!
