School room for "river gypsy" kids

Donation protected
River gypsy or bede children are almost all illiterate (95%). There is one small community in Tegura in Bangladesh who have a little school room serving upto 30 kids.  The little stilt structure is falling apart.

The school  is actually the teacher's home currently. The money will be used to build a separate structure with its own solar panel. The money will also provide a salary for the teacher until August 2017.  We need the funds by end February 2016.

River gypsy kids have it doubly hard. They are not only impoverished but are also widely excluded from the mainstream community. They have little access to health or education services. Only two percent of them have the chance to be immunized against diseases. Education would help them enormously in an already highly uneven  and uncertain playing field.

The kids want to learn. They eagerly trot out of their homes six days of the week to go to school. Only their school is not a real school but someone's house. And it is falling apart. Building a school hut would make a great difference and give them some confidence that things are changing.

I am a documentary film maker and I have been filming the river gypsies of Bangladesh for over two years.  I came across the Tegura bede and they asked me for help to build the school.
