                                             Our Mission 
The mission of the Center for Molecular Design and Development (CMDD) is to improve our abilities to use state-of-the-art modeling to provide predictive tools for creating new molecular systems with desired properties. The center has access to some of the most powerful computing capabilities and well as the latest molecular simulation programs available in the world.  Treating diseases, which most medical research laboratories aren't researching, is one of our biggest goals. We like to call these diseases "homeless" since they have no "home" research facility investigating them.    Our modeling tools could be used to solve problems ranging from biomedical to materials science applications. This will be accomplished by CMDD by bringing together the expertise, capabilities, and resources necessary for solving predictive modeling problems.  We have collaborators at Oak Ridge National Laboratories, NASA, and Virginia Commonwealth University, to name only a few.  This includes the necessary hardware, software, and human resources needed to accomplish this goal. The CMDD will provide a platform for the enhanced education of students at the undergraduate and advanced degree levels of education. CMDD will also be a multi-institutional facility with a number of in-state and out-of- state research institutions and will function as a national resource.  It is our goal to provide hope for the treatments and cures for some of these non-researched ailments using the most advanced molecular modeling and bioinformatic procedures known.  See our web page at:

It should be noted that any contribution to GoFundMe will be deposited in a non-profit foundation account for the center and will be tax deductable.  We will be happy to send a receipt if you provide us your name and e-mail address.

In addition, the center will primarily be staffed by graduate students and post doctoral research associates. The bulk of the funding will be used to pay these Masters and PhD students a stipend and cover their tuition and fees. Using this very talented group will allow the center to be a training ground for students working on their Master's and PhD degrees while at the same time getting a tremendous amount of very valuable research accomplished with minimal labor expenses. The cost of these students are:

Undergraduate-------------------     $ 4,000 stipend
                                                                        $ 1,000 overhead
                                                                                      and fringe
PhD Graduate Students  --------     $18,000 stipend
                                                                        $   8,000 tuition, fees
                                                                                      and insurance
Post-doctoral research associate --$ 40,000 stipend
                                                                           $ 10,000 fringe

If you can be part of this effort to advance the goals of this center, especially its medical goals,  will be much appreciated.  In addition, you can "buy" influence as to which diseases or medical conditions will be researched.  One vote will be registered under the contributor's name for every dollar contributed.  Any contributor can make a request to the center for a particular medical condition or disease to be given consideration by the center.
