THE JAZZ CLUB

It was almost a year ago that I made one of these videos on GoFundMe and asked you to support The Music of Rick Britto project. I appreciated everyone's help in making that project happen as well as those who worked on the Winter Peace project.

2013 turned out to be quite a year with over thirty musicians involved, more than two hundred sponsors, and of course, two great organizations The Cape Verdean Recognition Society and the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra's education outreach program, who teamed up with all of us.

This year I am looking forward to two more projects and the first one involves a CD of my own compositions and the Tri-County Music Association. This recording will be called THE JAZZ CLUB and it will involve more of a traditional piano trio with my friend Greg Conroy on drums and bassist Jerry Wilfong. We are also going to be joined by guitarist Donn Legge for part of the session.

I've known about the Tri-County Music Association for over thirty years now, originally receiving a music scholarship from them while in college which helped me out quite a lot and was greatly appreciated. More recently, I have done some piano accompaniments for their annual scholarship recipient concert and I've been again reminded of all the work that this organization does to support young musicians and their study of music. To give you an idea, the Tri-County Music Association gave out over $12,000 in scholarships last year and they continue to present beautiful live concerts in Marion throughout the year.

Using a similar crowdfunding model, I am hoping to get as many people involved in partnering with us to make this CD possible and also produce a nice concert in March. Once again, 100% of the proceeds from the recording and the concert will go towards the Tri-County Music Association. As we did with The Music of Rick Britto and Winter Peace, once the CDs are printed, we will hand them over to be sold at all upcoming events.

As far as the music goes, Greg, Jerry, Donn, and I have been working on this music for several months now, we just had a very productive rehearsal in early January, and we are looking forward to putting together another great recording and live program for all of you.

THE JAZZ CLUB will be a new CD recording with jazz pianist Matt Richard, drummer Greg Conroy, bassist Jerry Wilfong, and guitarist Donn Legge. The CD will be recorded, mixed, and mastered by Peter Kontrimas at PBS Studios located in Westwood, Massachusetts.

The recording will contain twelve original jazz compositions, all written and arranged by Matt Richard.

A CD release concert will be held from 7:30-9 p.m. on Friday evening, March 14, 2014 in the Lyndon South Auditorium at Tabor Academy located at 66 Spring Street in Marion, Massachusetts 02738. All of the ticket sales from this concert will benefit the Tri-County Music Association Inc. Scholarship Fund.
