Blake Miner the Traveling Potter

Since I began my journey in Washington State on the Olympic Peninsula, I have seen the marvels and beauty of The Pacific Coast, The High Desert in Oregon, The Sierra Nevadas,  Lake Tahoe, Mendocino, LA, Palm Springs, and Joshua Tree.  Arriving in Pioneer Town California after 8000 miles, ungrading the back of my Chevy 1500 W/T, Nancy, a replaced engine with the help of my sponsors, a couple hickups in the road and some valuable lessons learned.

I have arrived. I am staying with a community of monk like caretakers of the wonderful Garth's Boulder Garden. I have brought my tools, wheel, clay and glaze. While here I will have three major objectives in Art:
1. To establish a working pottery to create functionalware for the community and guests at the garden.

2. Utilize the studio for personal exploration and development of my sculpture abilities.

3. Provide an educational resource for artists wishing to learn primitive pottery, Including resourcing materials, handbuilding vessels for ceremonial use, alternative firing methods, and to preserve and inform tactile exploration of geologic surroundings and time.

While here I will also work on my personal growth as a human being. This means learning the customs and cultural norms of the community, and adapting and assimilating my behaviors and attitudes toward others to establish inner peace, and community harmony.

You can help me with smaller donations as I save for a small gas kiln and a propane tank. I have everything else.
