Healing the wounds of Ferguson

Donation protected
I have lived in Saint Louis approximately 5 miles from Ferguson for more than 30 years. I am also a Cultural Anthropology and Sociology student at nearby UMSL. The recent uprising in the small subdivision has brought to the surface a very explosive powder keg of racism in Saint Louis, Missouri.

I would very much like the oppportunity to create a short film about the events in Ferguson with the aim of helping to bridge the cultural divide. A short film certainly cannot do all of the work! I plan to use the film as a backdrop for discussions in varying communities and online on the subject of race.

I have spent many years discussing race and matters of culture with friends and family. I have it set as my lifetime achievement to heal wounds and foster understanding and peace. This is my first public step towards that goal.

I strongly feel that this is a point in history that we need to acknowledge and attempt to manage honestly and directly. I need help getting this message out and financing the beginning of this journey.

Donations will cover:

The cost of filming
Rental of workspace
Travel expenses related to filming
Production costs ie, sets, wardrobes and props
Labor

I estimate that with the funding goals met, the film portion of the project should take no more than 6 weeks.

Many thanks for all donations.
