Donation protected
Our Film Production is looking to raise money for our Documentary film "280 Acres"  ($10,000 has been donated directly) We very much appreciate the donation towards the Documentary. We still have a ways to go, please share) This Documentary is focusing on the former "Tinley Park Mental Health Center". Located in Tinley Park IL. 280 Acres of land which has been left abandoned by the State of Illinois for many years with many serious health risks to the community. The land and it's 40+ buildings are contaminated with many Toxins including Mercury, Asbestos, and Lead, putting the citizens and visitors of Tinley Park in serious danger. Teenagers, thrill seekers, adventure photographers, Air Soft enthusiasts, Police, and Military have all used the property. We uncovered that most of these people had no idea they were being exposed to such dangerous Toxins. To make matters worse, For many years our local children used the contaminated facility for Football, Softball, and Soccer, practices. The Parents and Coaches of these children were never informed of the dangers. We have uncovered evidence that shows the State of Illinois was informed and knew the property was contaminated in 2011. Regardless, they allowed thousands of unsuspecting people to use the contaminated facilities for numerous activities. In 2014 Tetra Tech completed an Environmental Site Assessment of the property, which resulted in a report showing massive contamination. Sadly, the State of Illinois continued to allow many more people access to the property for various activities until November 2019. The State of Illinois has had many opportunities develop the property over the years but they refused to sell the property to Tinley Park so they could fully pursue those proposed developments. The property has been closed for 8 years and the State of Illinois refuses to clean up their contaminated property. Is this political? Is someone hiding something? Why does the State Illinois continue to avoid development opportunities but openly allow Tinley Park residents to live in danger? This film is being made to bring this serious and dangerous issue to the attention of the public in order to force the State of Illinois and it's law makers into action. In hopes of forcing them to properly clean up this property and sell the property to Tinley Park. Your donated funds will be used for research, film crew, equipment, day to day costs, editing, and distribution. Thank you for your donation ahead of time!
