Coahoma/Quitman Flood Relief

Both Coahoma and Quitman counties have seen historic water levels as a result of the recent rain. There are over 350 families that have been displaced because of the flood waters. We are a group of locals who are trying to address a need of centralized communication and information dispersement, as well as connection of needs and resources in our community during this time. The biggest need is not goods, but money. Goods have to be sorted and inspected and repackaged and organized, and the guidelines for doing that in a responsible way are strict. They also have to be stored and then transported. The best way to provide relief and support to displaced families is through a financial gift. We are putting together a team of LOCAL people to assess the needs in the coming weeks and make a decision on how to disperse the funds to provide resources and supplies for families in need. We live in such a supportive community. We have confidence the response to this will be above and beyond.
