Creating a Turkopticon Alternative

With the growing numbers of dishonest requesters on Amazon's Mechanical Turk platform, a brand new website to protect workers is needed.

Enter TurkAware!

Turk Aware is a website currently in the planning and development stages and it is being designed to be an alternative to Turkopticon. The site is built and designed by turkers, for turkers. It will provide all the usual features like rating and leaving comments on requesters, but the site will be much more.

Once launched, the site will provide many metrics on requesters that are currently not available, such as an estimate of their lifetime approval/rejection rates. How are we going to that? We will rely on users of the site to upload their HIT Database exports. Crowdsourcing this data will provide all Mturk workers with the most accurate information on a requester as possible.

Features Include:
- A robust user registration system with avatars and much more.
- Easy, searchable requester database with loads of information not currently available on other websites.
- The ability to upload your HIT Database to help improve the accuracy of a requester's actual approval / rejection rate.
- A brand new browser plugin to tie in with the  API being developed to provide users with a better idea of the requester's background.


All of the development has been out of my own pocket thus far, and all future donations to this gofundme campaign will go towards completing the development, future development, and the hosting of this enormous new Mturk undertaking.

WIthout donations, I still plan on slowly saving money to pay for the development. However, with your donations, we could have this great new project up and running within a month!
