Help us power an African orphanage

Donation protected
We are high school students at University High School in Tucson, Arizona who started the first Humanitarian Technology Club to explore ways to use technology to serve mankind.

We found a need when we learned that less than 10% of orphanages in Africa have access to reliable electricity. 1.6 billion people do not have access to electricity. We wanted to help provide power for children in these orphanages so they can read, study, and play in the evenings. Some of these orphanages need light just so the children may safely walk to use the restrooms after dark.

We teamed up with a great organization called "We Care Solar" and raised funds to purchase a solar suitcase kit. This amazing suitcase will power several rooms at an orphanage in Kenya.

Through a rotary grant that was graciously provided to us by Rincon Rotary Club we were able to purchase one solar suitcase. They are also covering the instructor fee to help the students in our club learn how to assemble the suitcase and to quality check the final product. The workshop is already scheduled for April 30.

We would like to purchase more suitcases and then travel to Kenya to install them this summer. Please consider making a donation to help us provide light for these children. Thank you!
