Homes for Haiti

Donation protected
I recently returned from a mission trip to Haiti.  While there I was able to meet with my 2 sponsored children, Mikelson and Julie, and was given the opportunity to visit the childrens' homes.  We were unable to reach Mikelson's home due to the rough terrain and the lack of time to walk the miles to the home.  He walks over 10 miles each day to attend school.  Julie's home was closer to the road so we were able to get there.  Julie is almost 4 years old and I've never seen her smile.  She lives in a very simple shack, along with her younger sister, mother, and grandmother.  When I saw the home it took every bit of willpower I had not to burst into tears.  It consists of 2 tiny rooms, containing very few items.  The walls are mostly built of extremely thin wood, like you'd see peeling up from old laminate.  The "stove" is a little fire on the floor, inches away from the very feeble wood wall. You could say the house has lots of ventilation -- there are holes everywhere in the walls. There's no room for a bed so at night they go to a friend's house to sleep.  My goal is to raise the money to build them a house. It costs ~$4800 to build a very nice cinderblock home through Lifeline Christian Mission.  Mikelson also needs a home.  He and his mother don't have a home and must live with relatives, very far from school.  There are 2 other sponsored children that desperately need a home as well. Our goal is to raise the money needed to build them each a new home through Lifeline Christian Mission, the organization that we sponsor the children through.  Please help if you are able.  Whatever we do for the least of these, we do for Him as well.
