My name is Sharleigh Thomson. I am 17 years old and I live in a tiny town in New Hampshire.
My parents like to say that I could sing long before I learned to talk. While I don’t quite believe that, I agree that I have always been an entertainer at heart. When I was little I would put on grand productions in our living room that almost always ended with me dancing on the coffee table and belting out nonsense lyrics.
When I was in the third grade, my music teacher had noticed how much I enjoyed singing and convinced me to audition for the community musical. That first show sparked a fire in me that has kept me performing for the past nine years.
As of this spring, I have been in more than 30 full-scale theatrical productions, not including competitions, recitals, and variety shows. I also tour with TIGER Teen Theatre, part of Plymouth State University’s TIGER Program. Our show provides tactics on how to deal with bullying, relationships, friendships, drugs, mental health and more to middle school students. In 2012 I played a principal role in the New Hampshire Public Television production of TIGER Takes on Bullying, which won the New England Emmy for Children’s and Youth Programming. The episode is available for viewing online at http://www.nhptv.org/tiger    Last spring I applied for and was accepted to a high school musical theatre intensive in New York City at the American Musical and Dramatics Academy(AMDA). AMDA is a performing arts conservatory located on the upper west side of Manhattan. It has many notable alumni, including Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Christopher Sieber, Tyne Daly, Jason Wise, Sarah Stiles, Cassie Levy and Emily Padgett. AMDA offered me a generous scholarship that made it possible for me to attend the summer program and study vocal music. While there, I fell in love with the campus, staff, training program. I learned a lot about myself as a performer and a person last summer. I can't imaging going anywhere else for college.

Unfortunately, though I was accpeted for Fall 2015 Admission to the AMDA NY Musical Theatre conservatory and offered signifigant financial aid and scholarship, the remaining balance is still much too high for me to afford on my own. My parents had to file bankruptcy on their business a few years ago and as a result they are not in a position to help me pay for school. It's a long shot, but I am hoping that by sharing this campaign maybe I can raise enough to afford even just the first year. Anyone who would be willing to support my dream would be very, very, very much appreciated. Anything you can donate is significant. And please, share this campaign with your contacts.
