Help me save Gus.

Gus is my 12-year-old Maine Coon cat. He has been my steady and often feisty companion since I rescued him as a 12 -week-old kitten in 2003.
A year ago, Gus developed a malignant tumor on his left rear paw. It cost nearly $1,000 to have it removed. I just recently made the final payment on the bill. The vet told me she wasn't able to get all of the tumor because it was so deep, and that it would likely grow back. Sure enough, it did, and Gus is losing strength in that leg. This time, it looks like the leg will have to be amputated and the cost of the surgery is estimated to triple. Since I am retired and on a fixed income, this amount is daunting.
Normally, Gus could expect to live another five to eight years. Without surgery, his life expectancy is only a few months. Please help me give Gus a second chance at life.
