Uganda Farmers Conference 2017

Hello, I am Tony Davis.  My family and I operate Quail Run Farm in Grants Pass, Oregon, a small farm specializing in quality fresh produce, bedding plants, and hanging baskets.  In almost 20 years of selling at grower's markets in the Rogue Valley we have many regular customers many of whom we call friends.  It has been my pleasure to give gardening tips to many of them.  I like meeting new gardeners, especially kids just getting started.  The thrill they get from taking care of plants and reaping a harvest is priceless.

In December 2013 I had the experience of a lifetime when I went to Uganda for the first time. I met Christopher Ndooli and his family.  They were working with H2H Farm in Wakiso District of Uganda.  Since that time we have stayed in contact and they have become great friends.  Christopher and his wife, Emily, are very caring and giving people, sharing what little they have to teach children and young adults.  Christopher works very well instructing young men not only in farming practices but more importantly in how to contuct themselves with honesty and integrity.

Most recently Christopher has been building or restoring aquaponic systems at orphanages.  After completion of the work Christopher will train someone to run it.  This helps the orphanages to become more self sustainable.

Christopher has invited me to speak at a Farmers Conference he is hosting on 14 Jan 2017.  He will be teaching hands on organic and water saving farming methods.  I will be speaking on the business of farming.  My past experience has shown a need to learn the planning and financial aspects of farming.  My presentation will be an adaptation from Larry Burket's Business by the Book and Farming God's Way, an organic approach to farming developed by Africans for Africans.
Travel arrangements have been made and visa application is complete.
Funding is needed for conference materials and other expenses while in Uganda.

I am most thankful for all support but the farmers in Uganda are truly the beneficiaries of your kindness.   Ugandan farmers will be so grateful that you would help send me to teach them to produce greater harvests and break chains of poverty.  A little goes a long way!
