Urdd Volunteering Trip To Patagonia 2019
Donation protected
Helo! / Hello! / ¡Hola!,
My name is Meg Roberts from Abergavenny, Wales. I am 16 and study at Ysgol Gyfun Gwynllyw, Pontypool. I have been fortunate enough to be chosen to take part in Urdd Gobaith Cymru's volunteering trip to Patagonia, Argentina in the Autumn of 2019. I am a fluent Welsh speaker, and have a strong passion for the Spanish language and Latin American cultures.
This is an annual trip for twenty-five Year 12 & 13 students from across Wales who are selected to travel to Patagonia in order to strengthen Welsh cultural and linguistic ties between Wales and 'Y Wladfa' - the Argentinian Welsh Colony. During the 2 week trip, I will be helping to lead sessions with children/young people learning the Welsh language, visiting Patagonians of Welsh descent, working in schools (primary and 6th form colleges), helping with community projects and taking part in and assisting with shows and competitions held by the schools we visit.
To fund the trip and also support the 'Menter Patagonia' project which develops community work in the region, each individual needs to raise £2,575. I am undertaking various fundraising events in my school and local community, but would greatly appreciate any donations, no matter how small, to help me take part in this unforgettable trip.
Diolch am gymryd yr amser i ddarllen am fy nhaith. Gobeithiaf i gryfhau'r cysylltiadau rhwng Cymry Patagonia a Chymru i sicrhau fod ein traddodiadau, iaith a diwylliant yn parhau i fodoli am flynyddoedd i ddod.
Diolch o galon,
Thank you,
¡Gracias!
