Grow fresh food for Bali school
Donation protected
Through Rotary, in the upper village of Les in the northern drought stricken area of Bali we have completed a school building, a teachers office and now we are bringing in reticulated water for the new toilet block being constructed BUT we wish to purchase this small block of land (see photo) adjacent to the school to use as a demonstration area for the school children to grow fresh produce which will be used to provide breakfast and lunches to the students. Rotary funds are exhausted. The opportunity is upon us now. If we miss the opportunity it is likely the land will be built on and lost for this purpose. We aim to show the students a range of means of growing alternative healthy foods and possible raise chickens for eggs and sale for additonal food. Food sources are carce in the villages associated with this school. By establishing this food source we also aim to establish a model to be used in other villages in Bali to assist in education and overcoming nutrition challenges that face these beautiful young primary school students.
