WELT-LP Equipment Campaign

The Allen County Public Library is about a third of the way to achieving its funding goal for a new, low-power community radio station. The Federal Communications Commission granted us a construction permit in October of 2014 for a 100-watt radio station.
We've been working on this project for over 10 years and now, with the FCC's blessing, we have the opportunity to bring local voices back to the radio listening audience.
Our mission is to challenge the cultural and intellectual assumptions of our listeners through unique and diverse programming. Our station’s frequency is 95.7 and our call letters are WELT, which stands for We Encourage Local Talent.
WELT-FM is expected to begin broadcasting in December. We want to make sure that when we do go online, everybody is well-trained, they’ve been practicing and honing their craft so we can bring the best quality local radio programming to the community.
To achieve this, we need to raise $5,000 to help complete the final construction of our main recording studio at the Allen County Public Library so our DJ's can create their local shows. We want to complete this work before the end of the summer so we can begin streaming in August and get the local community excited about what we are bring to them.
In the age of media consolidation and the lack of local voices in the media, it is critical for us to maintain the local flavor, the music and the dialogue of our community.
