Stroke & Brain Tumor Survivor

Donation protected
My nightmare started on February 3rd, 2015 when I watched my mother have a stroke. She was disoriented and hard to talk to, even putting on clothes was a huge task for her. Prior to that, we've noticed strange things happening to her but we had know idea what was wrong with her.

In the middle of a snow storm, we helped her get into the car and drove her to the emergency room. 6 hours later, a doctor emerges from the curtains and sits down. He very casually tells us that she has a massive brain tumor called Meningioma, that is located in her frontal lobe and had been slowly growing for 10 years.

Even though we had a name for it, no matter of endless google searches or doctor's explanations could prepare us for the long journey ahead of us.

After we found out, we were then told that she must have brain surgery as soon as possible. Which ended up being just two days later. The surgery was early in the morning, and ended up being an enscursiating 10 hours long. Much longer then the surgeon anticipated. This was because he wanted to remove as much of the tumor as he could and ensure the brain branches were in good order.

The initial surgery was successful, he removed all of the tumor. But then, we found out something devastating. After her surgery, she had a massive stroke which affected and paralyzed the left side of her body. Only time would tell how she would recover from this.

After her surgeries and other health issues were addressed and managed, she was released from the hospital and into a rehab center. She basically was bed bound for several weeks and could barely talk or even eat. This was partially because she was recovering from the brain surgery but a large part of it was because of the stroke.

The stroke after surgery made it hard for her to talk and move her left side of her body. Because of the amazing rehab team and her own strength, she is beginning to move that side of her body. Her recovery has been slow, but it is improving. Her strength is admirable and she is truly the strongest woman I know.

The reason for this fund is to help her and my family financially. As this has been incredibly difficult and expensive to manage.  Here is a list of things your money will help us do.

1. Hire a 24/7 caregiver to care for my mom when she can come home.

2. Remodel our house so it will be wheelchair accessible, and safe for my mom to be there.

3. Pay for costly insurance premiums/bills we are behind on.

Words cannot describe how happy it would make my mother and my family to receive a donation from you. Even if it is not a lot, it will be greatly appreciated. If you are unable to donate, then please pass the word along.

God bless,

Stephanie
