Veterans Final Honors
Donation protected
The Northern Nevada All Veteran Honor Guard is part of the American Legion High Desert Post 56 Carson City, Nevada and members are certified by the U.S. Department of Defense to provide funeral honors for veterans in all of Northern Nevada and parts of California. The unit provides, on average, 50 funerals and honor guard services each year, is a non-profit organization and all services are provided at no cost.
Our current transportation to and from most of these events, is a shuttle bus, that currently has over 170,000 miles with broken windows, peeling decals, leaks when it rains, just as an example. The bus is a 2002 model and now requires immediate major engine repair or replacement. A “used” replacement bus would cost in excess of $50,000. Therefore we are seeking $15,000 to complete the needed repairs, as soon as possible. Every donation, large or small will help us reach our goal!
As a non-profit organization, that does not fundraise, needless to say our financial resources are limited. We have contacted local businesses (car dealerships, large employers and casinos) to solicit their support, unfortunately, very few of those have responded and those that have claim they “do not have the funds in their budget.”
We are quite concerned that engine or other failure will occur on the way to a funeral preventing us from providing these important services to the veterans and their families of our communities.
Your help will be instrumental in enabling us to confidently continue to provide these services.
Thank you in advance for your donation, as always, it is tax deductible and an affirmation letter for your records can be provided upon request.
Your generosity, patriotism and support of those who have served is greatly appreciated.
