Backpacks for the Homeless

This GoFundMe is for my Eagle Scout project, Backpacks for the Homeless.
Each backpack will contain essential and immediate items for our local homeless community such as: (no cook) canned foods, granola/breakfast/protein bars, peanut butter, dried fruits, coffee&tea, travel mug, and can opener. There will also be a toiletry roll-up that doubles for a wash cloth. This roll up will have a toothbrush and toothpaste, soap, shampoo and conditioner, deodorant and razor in it. Toilet paper, emergency blanket and either a regular blanket or a sleeping bag liner will also be included; first aid items, hat and gloves. I also want to include 3 cards in each backpack. A "just because" card, a Christmas card and a birthday card that will have a voucher for a cupcake or other special treat from a local bakery.
During the planning stages for this project I figured I would just use any economical backpack I could get. My sample backpacks were only $5 from a local drug store but they won't last long especially out in the homeless environment.
If my project gets fully funded, I'd be able to purchase at least 100 durable camping backpacks! Can you imagine having nothing at all and then all of a sudden receiving a multitude of items AND having a very sturdy backpack to keep them in?
All donations recieved will go towards the backpacks. If by chance the donations go above and beyond , then I can look into upgrading or adding some items like tarps or water purification devices, tents, etc.
Our local homeless shelter, Hospitality House, is the beneficiary of my project and they will receive the backpacks and deliver them to the homeless camps.
Backpacks for the Homeless is a project I intend to keep doing for the rest of my life. I will always have a backpack ready to give to one in need!
