Destined To Be The First To Finish

Greetings Everyone,
My name is Destiny McClendon, I'm a 19 year old, first generation college student. I am entering into my third year at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, currently double majoring in marketing and fashion merchandising.
I have decided to start this campaign to allow me to continue my education at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. As of today, I am currently unable to register for classes for the fall 2015 semester due to registration holds caused by an outstanding bursar bill. Unfortunately I do not have the financial means to make this happen. I have exhausted essentially every form of financial aid available to me. I am seeking financial assistance so that I will have the opportunity to complete another year of education and will be one step closer to obtaining my degrees.
I have recently experienced a huge economic distress due to a decision I had to make concerning my living situation. As you all know living in the dorms can be quite expensive, I have exhausted my loans in order to help out with the cost of the previous semester, however it was not enough so this has become my last resort. I plan to move off campus in the coming semester to eliminate this problem in the future.
Like many college students I have faced a number of trials and adversities in my first two years of school that I never thought I would have to deal with. These were some of the most challenging times of my life. There were many times were it seemed that it would be much easier to give up because things were getting tough. Nonetheless each time I found the strength and means to continuously press forward and continue my education because it is the best and only option for me.
Being that I am a first generation college student, my education is extremely important to me. I value every opportunity that my education at SIUC has afforded me and I couldn't imagine not being able to return to school in the fall due to financial hardships. I am also the oldest of 3 children it is important that I display a positive image for my younger siblings and demonstrate how beneficial a higher education can be for them. I want to be able to show them what consistency, focusing on the right path, hard work and dedication can get them.
With this being said, I want to thank you all for your time, consideration and donations, it genuinely means the world to me. I am beyond thankful for every donation regardless of the amount, every penny is highly appreciated. The money raised from this campaign will be used to pay off my outstanding bursar bill. If in the event that I exceed my goal, I will use that money to keep my bursar bill paid. Again, thank you all for everything you have done to help me finish my education.
With humble regards,
Destiny McClendon
