Grandma LaRee & Haiti's orphans
Donation protected
LaRee Pickup is the grandmother of five children. Her daughter is in the throes of adopting a Haiti orphan making a sixth grandchild. It may take upwards of two years for the adoption to be completed. While the family waits, LaRee has volunteered to care for children at the Haitian Christian orphanage called Hands Across the Sea (HATS).
Not only will LaRee care for children, she will gain some understanding of issues the family may face when the child arrives in Canada. LaRee has taught sewing to children for many years. She will offer to teach this necessary skill while in Haiti and offer her sewing services to the orphanage as needed, along with ongoing daily care for the children. Her spirit is willing but the cash is weak.
LaRee estimates she needs $5,000 to cover flight, travel costs and other expenses. Any unused funds will be donated directly to the HATS orphanage. Financial breakdown of costs will be made available, upon request, to donors upon LaRee's return.
