Jaden’s Lung Lipoma

Life is never easy and sometimes it’s darn right hard. My harder hit is when I was told my 16 year old son has a mass on his left lung. The bright side is, it’s not malignant. However, with all the doctors visits and procedures the medical bills are adding up things are looking grim. As I try to stay positive for my kids and for myself, any help I can get would be much appreciated and extremely well taken care of.

Let me tell you a little about Jaden and his story. Jaden has always been a very happy kid. He has always brought sunshine to the world with his smile and laughter. He has always been kind hearted and willing to help other without being asked. On 4/27/18, while he was running at PE, Jaden became very pale, sweaty and disoriented. His coach thought he was going to pass out. Now that doesn’t seem like much but for a kid who’s never been sick it seemed off. I got a call from the nurses office and I left work to go get him. He seems different when I picked him up but more tired than anything. Jaden being Jaden still laughed and joked with me and seemed to be completely back to normal by the time we got to the ER, it has been about an hour since the incident.
During the visit in the ER Jaden got to meet my friends and Co workers and he was happy and laughed, brightening their day. After his chest X-ray the doctor said that they felt he may have some fluid in his lung but everything else looks great! For a mom that’s great news! So they sent him for a CT just to be sure of what they were seeing. Not long after the CT we were given the news that Jaden had a mass on his left lung that measured 12x13x10cm and involved his pulmonary vein. I was surprised but kept a positive attitude and kept my cool as I processed it all.
Since that day there has been test after test and appointment after appointment. On Friday 4/27/18 Jaden has his biopsy done and the results show a benign lipoma. That’s the good news. The bad news is that Jaden can no longer run without nearly passing out. He can’t walk up stairs without feeling weak.

Jaden had goals. He is currently in a program at school that will allow him to graduate as an EMT basic. He wants to go to the fire academy after that to become a fireman. He eventually wants to also become a paramedic. He made up his mind to dedicate his life to taking care of others.

There is a long road ahead of him. A long road for our family.

I had already been working three jobs to have a comfortable and fun life for myself and my children. Now I work to make sure he can get the care and the treatment he needs while caring for his younger brother also. I am not one to ask for help but I know I can’t do this one alone. I have a strong support group talking to me every day. Great people helping get through this and showing me the way. I am thankful every single day to have these people in my life.

If you can help, please do.
