WeHaveMasks for Schools Material Drive

Donation protected

Schools that are starting in-person learning this fall have a unique set of challenges.  Students and teachers shouldn’t have to worry about mask needs when they are trying to learn, explore, and grow. Your donation will help us get masks to schools and communities in need so no student has to worry about going without. Our goal is to purchase materials and make 60,000 washable masks. Your donation will help us purchase material in bulk to receive a discounted rate.

Your $5 donation will sponsor supplies for 28 masks.
Your $25 donation will sponsor supplies for 145 masks.
Your $75 donation will sponsor supplies for 435 masks.

Many school districts are not providing masks, especially in states without mask mandates. Schools in these areas need our help the most. The number of masks each student and teacher needs will be difficult for many families to keep up with.  WeHaveMasks is working to ease that burden and empower schools to create quality masks on-site.

WeHaveMasks for Schools has a no-sew, washable mask design that allows schools to quickly make masks on-site using common materials and tools found in schools. Your donation will allow our organization to provide all the materials need. The mask and assembly process was specifically designed for underprivileged, low-income area schools in mind. Schools or community groups that want to make spunbond non-woven polypropylene (NWPP) masks themselves can request materials and WeHaveMasks for Schools will assist as needed with instruction and helpful resources to help them get set up. Learn more or register your school, scout troop, or community center to make masks at www.WeHaveMasksforSchools.com. Our contact email may be found through the website link as well to ask questions, volunteer, or donate materials.

WeHaveMasks worked with leaders in the mask pattern development and materials community to develop the no-sew mask solution that is fast and easy to make. The mask is derived from the MakeIt Fitted pattern by MakeIt Labs and designed to be cut and heat sealed using common tools readily available to schools. The pattern will be offered in three sizes and available in a die for Ellison and other die-cutting machines. NWPP will be provided to schools in the form of reusable bags most commonly, reusable grocery, conference, and promotional bags. The bags can be stacked several high and the mask shape cut out. Scissors can also be used to cut out the mask shapes. When possible, WeHaveMasks will provide pre-cut NWPP mask shapes to schools that do not have access to a die-cutter. Each bag will make 2-4 masks depending on the size of the bag and mask size being cut. We are also working on sourcing rolls of NWPP material that will be laser cut at Maker Spaces across the country. WeHaveMasks for Schools is currently in contact with companies to secure a minimum of 20,000 bags.
