Hello and thank you so far for the support it is Important to me to be able to heal up in my off season. When you support the art that do it allows me to carry on making public art in Communities and secure some much needed physiotherapy during the off season.
Over the past 20 some years in Toronto & other cities around the world (New York, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Belfast, Paris and Nice) so far I've added to the culture and style of communities, creating sidewalk art that At times helps to safen and heal when painting in these public spaces. Dealing with Mean form of Arthritis in short titled AS (ankylosing spondylitis) It at times makes these efforts difficult though proactive. Doing these kinds of positive action's can help keep the arthritis at bay. It's with a heavy heart that I know I will only be able to continue to do this type of work for a limited period of time in my life
. Much like MS (multiple sclerosis) My creative time with AS is limited, no matter how much one tries to fight what is going on inside. That in short is why I do as much as I can of this kind of work, while the weather and my body permits.
In 2015 and 2016 I looked to us my form of creativity to help heal. There were numerous placesI went to, Nice France writing the Words Courage L'amour and Paix to show that the act of one pesron in hate could also see another Act in love. in my home city of Toronto it was the Names of the 49 Killed in Orlando orther murals included:
- in 2012 13 14 15 The alphabet on Danforth, running just east of Pape to Woodbine, it was close to two miles in length with celtic swirls throughout and plenty of sparkle to shine! My intention with this piece was to give the area a new way to bring together the community and bring businesses new traffic.
- Hearts and Unicrons outside of Sick Kids Hospital with words of Healing and support (Love, Strength, Hope). The community around Sick Kids just has so much heart, the Doctors and Nurses, the kids and their families, Knoing what goes on in that block I wanted to do something to help people even for a moment escape the stress that can come along with a child being in this important facility.
- Updates to existing, and the addition of new, compasses across the city, at Main & Danforth, Chester Hill Lookout, Toronto Island Pier, because everyone needs a little direction from time to time!
- BlueJays city spirit sam me give some Jays love was along Blue Jay Way in 2015 and 2015 & 2016 outside of the "Birds Nest" at Nathan Phillips Square for the fans to celebrate our cities team spirit.
- Remembrance Day artwork, as I have every year for the last decade that I was proud to be able to share with a message of thanks to our Veterans and the 48th Highlanders Crest outside Museum on King St west.
- First Nations pieces at Bay & Queen and Queen West & Spadina, for First Nations Day and Buskerfest, honouring works by Mark Anthony Jacobson, the Ojibway artist in 2015
- Unofficial city signage highlighting some of our world class tourist favourites St Lawrence Market and Trinity Bellwoods Garrison Creek in 2015.
It is important to me to create public artwork that inspires a general sense of positivity and community, not just in Toronto but around the world, with more cities to come with more donations received.
When you fund this project you'll be helping contribute to more @whatsvictorupto artwork around the city and the world.
Thank you so much for your contributions to help keep the art flowing & pay for physiotherapy and massage.
A little really does help a lot, so please help enable me to do as much art as can with the time I have.
Thank you so very much.
