Help find homes for thousands of books through the formation of a charitable nonprofit!
A team of writers and activists are looking to form a nonprofit organization named Spreading Literature, with the sole goal of donating books to those who need them, want them and can use them.
Literally thousands of books are thrown away each week at bookstores such as Half Price Books. Many of these locations are willing to donate these books, but they simply don't have enough nonprofits interested.
The goal is to establish relationships with bookstores throughout Washington State wherein they donate books to Spreading Literature, rather than throw them away, which would in turn find them homes. Many locations are fully willing to do this, but only donate to registered nonprofit organizations. Spreading Literature will also be accepting books donated from individuals and organizations.
Places Spreading Literature would donate to include daycares, schools, libraries, community centers and nursing homes.
However, in order to establish and run such an organization, there are costs associated with it, hence the formation of this GoFundMe page.
Please consider making a contribution to help make all of this possible; everything is greatly appreciated, and goes directly towards the costs of forming and operating Spreading Literature, which includes filing fees, storages fees and initial gas costs associated with picking up and transporting books around the state.
Once established, Spreading Literature will have a fully operating website with precise information on how people can help. The site will include a continually-updated counter of exactly how many books we've donated thus far.
