Andres' Bone Marrow Transplant

Donation protected

Andres is a very sick little boy, who has to go through a bone marrow transplant to gain a fair chance at life. He has been diagnosed with Wiskott Aldrich Syndrome, which is an auto-immune disease that causes his immune system to fail and not fight off any other serious or common illnesses as well as not allowing his blood to clot properly which in turn can lead to death.

Mindy, his mother, who also has another child to support has lost her job, their home, and every ounce of stabliity due to the long invasive procedures and recovery period. She will be in the hospital with him for six weeks and must remain within one hour of OHSU for 100 days after the six weeks for several weekly hospital visits as this time period is crucial to his recovery. During this time she will have no income and no way to support her older child who is floating amoungst family members or maintain their family home.

This illness is very serious with no guarantees; he is a sweet and very intelligent child with a huge heart. He doesn’t understand all that this procedure entails but is putting on his best Ninja Turtle brave face and powering through it.

Thank you for your time, we appreciate it. If you want more details on this disease you can go to the immune deficiency foundation on line.
