Eight months in a Grove

This is the handy work of Officer Douglas Magee of the Springfield SD Police Dept.
In Sept of 2014, he took an elderly Chocolate Lab named Duke out into the country and shot him.
He left Dukes remians hidden in a clump of trees for over 8 months while Duke's family searched for their missing dog.
Duke had been part of the family for 10 years.
Duke was gentle. Duke was friendly.
Duke was elderly but Duke was healthy.
Duke had been to the vet for his 2014-2015 rabies shots. The Vet also cleaned Dukes ears.
Duke lived within a block of the police station in a very small town.
Officer Magee lied to Duke's family. He told them he had picked Duke up on Main Streeet and then dumped him off at a campground when he got another call to handle.
Officer Magee told Duke's family that when he went back to pick Duke up, he was gone.
Officer Magee claimed he didn't know who Duke belonged to even though he had been to Dukes home before.
A complaint was filed against officer Magee for dumping Duke instead of taking him to a safe place.
Dukes family continued to searched for him.
In June of this year, we learned the investigation of Officer Magee for dumping Duke amounted to nothing more than a cover up.
Officer Magee had in fact shot and killed Duke.
Officer Magee, the city of Springfield SD and the authorities investigating Officer Magee kept the truth hidden from Dukes family for 8 months.
Officer Magee now claims he killed Duke for humane reasons.
He claims Duke was mangy looking.
He claims Duke was infested with fleas and ticks.
Naturally, Officer Magee was not charged with any crime.
You can help get justice for Duke. Duke's life mattered.
