HURRICANE FORECASTER NEEDS NEW PC!
The purpose of this fundraiser is to assist "Storm" Walsh, (aka "StormW") in replacing the computer system and weather forecasting software which was lost to a system (hardware) crash.
This fundraiser is marked as "Urgent", as we are in the peak of the Atlantic hurricane season, and the server which ran all of StormW's forecasting software and which afforded access to the hurricane models, etc.. has crashed and is unrecoverable.
Mr. Walsh has valiantly served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard, and when not taking care of his family (some of whom have special medical needs), he has spent countless hours keeping the
WEST CENTRAL FLORIDA HURRICANE and SEVERE WEATHER FORECAST CENTER up and running.
"Storm Walsh", aka "STORMW" holds the following designations:

He has been forecasting and interpreting weather data "for the masses" in a way that few forecasters can.
"Storm" has funded his entire website, weather software, high-level meteorology forecast models, satellite access, etc. entirely out of his own pocket (with the occasional small donation from "regulars" who visit his website).
Unlike MANY other forecast sites, StormW does NOT charge users for access, and does not make any type of financial profit from running his website.
The information he provides to those in the path of tropical storms, hurricane, and other severe weather, as well as offering access to his "Forecast Toolkit" has been paid-for out of his own pocket.
Those of you who are familiar with tropical and severe weather forecast websites understand the very high cost of software licenses, satellite server access fees, etc.
The information which Storm Walsh has provided over the years has no-doubt helped to enlighten and even save thousands of lives (in conjunction and coordination with the National Hurricane Center, of course!)...and it is time that we help "pay it forward" and fund a new, state-of-the-art server-level PC system for Storm's website, as well as to help fund the storm modeling access licenses and weather software necessary to keep "us" fully updated and hopefully, out of harm's way.
