Yajaira "Yaya" Duran

This story begins with an incredible Woman named Yajaira. She is known as "Yaya" by her loved ones. Yaya is loving Daughter, Sister, and friend, but, most importantly, she is a wonderful Mother to her 17 year old daughter, Yari. She dedicated her life to family and strived to give her daughter the upmost best. On March 13th, Yaya was taken to the E.R , and within hours was put into an induced coma. Organs were failing, Infection was spreading, blood clots were occurring, and no oxygen was reaching her limbs; Septic occurred and the disease seemed to have taken over. Her health declined rapidly and uncontrollably. Yaya was officially diagnosed with Neisseria Meningitis (a gram negative bacteria that causes a life- threatening blood infection) The Doctors gave minimal hope in a chance of recovery and left us with only the power of prayer. After several plasma exchanges, blood transfusions, dialysis, and with the power of everyone's prayer, a miracle occurred; SHE SURVIVED. but, this was only the beginning. Due to the lack of oxygen in the limbs and infection in the tissues, her limbs were taken. After a few surgeries, Yaya was amputated from both her feet and hands. Yaya has a very long road ahead of her being only 37 years old. With the help of everyone, We are praying to raise enough money to get her the best prosthetics possible. She is working hard in her recovery to be able to attend her Daughter Yari's graduation from Mater Dei High School this May. Yari is a scholar athlete and is attending a D1 college this fall. Please, with the help of everyone, we pray and hope to come together to help this wonderful family achieve what they have been working their whole lives for. We appreciate anything and everything anyone can do to help.
