Maddie's Buddy Bench Campaign

My name is Madison Durbin and I am a first grader at John Campbell Elementary School in Selah, Washington. I want to raise money to purchase "Buddy Benches" for my school. Buddy Benches are a type of bench that will help kids make new friends, solve problems, and help our playground to be welcoming for all students. I think that it is important for ALL kids to have friends and feel happy at school. Kids can go to the Buddy Bench when they don't have a friend or someone to play with and others will join them or ask them to play.
I have been researching about Buddy Benches and how to put them into use at our little school. Buddy Benches are used at different schools across the United States to help kids and I want to be a part of that. I met with the principal of my school and the school counselor to ask their permission to start this project. They were as excited about the Buddy Benches as I was and said that they support me and want to help me with this. Yay!! We made great plans to teach the kids how to use the benches, make them part of our school and to introduce the idea at an assembly. There is even a song that we get to sing. Hooray!
I want to buy three benches (one for each playground) for my school. The benches we will buy are going to be designed for playgrounds so that they will hold up over time. I will need to earn $1,680.00 total and I am hoping to raise some of that money through gofundme. I also will be having a bake sale and asking local businesses for their help in making my school an even better place. In addition, I plan to go in front of my school's Parent Teacher Organization and ask them to match some of the funds I make.
This is a very important project to me and I believe that I can make a difference for kids. I don't think that any kids should feel lonely and sad at school.
If you consider giving money to this fund, I want you to know that I plan to work really hard to make this happen. I know that I will appreciate any donation that you make. But, I also want you to know that there are lots of kids who are in need of a caring friend who will also appreciate the donation and the benches. Thank you for considering supporting this!!
